The design of the screw pile is simple, which is what makes it a great option for many DIYers. My friend was able to pick up some screw piles at a local Home Depot and install them himself the same day.
While it's true that steel does corrode over time, it is actually quite rare that corrosion will govern the design. This is because of the nature of how helical piles are designed and installed.
Helical Piles can be installed in all weather conditions, including the harsh winter weather. This is made possible with there being no issue of waiting for concrete to cure.Even if there is rain, or snowfall, you can install the helicals and get your foundation project done.
At least three capped piles are needed to ensure stability against lateral forces (with the exception of caisson piles). Capping beams are also suitable for distributing the weight of a load-bearing wall, or of close-centred columns to a line of piles.
